Bishop Robert Gruss gathers with faithful on Ojibway Island to commemorate 350th anniversary of the first Catholic Mass in Interior Lower Michigan

Today, Bishop Robert Gruss gathered with faithful on Ojibway Island to commemorate the 350th anniversary of the first Catholic Mass celebrated in Interior Lower Michigan. The Mass was celebrated by Father Henri Nouvel, S.J. on Dec. 3, 1675.

On Sept. 14, Bishop Gruss also celebrated Mass near the Tridge in Midland to commemorate the 350th anniversary of Father Henry Nouvel's inaugural Mass on Christmas Day in the Midland region in 1675.
