Diocese of Saginaw News Update March 26, 2026 - Reese fire update and Ministry and Healing events and more.

Here’s a glimpse of what’s going on in our community:

Support for Faith Community Church

In response to the tragic fire at Faith Community Church on March 14, Saint Elizabeth Parish has graciously opened their Parish Center for worship services. Let’s keep praying for comfort and restoration during this challenging time.

As many of you know, on Saturday, March 14 an historic church - Reese Faith Community Church in Reese - was burned to the ground and a complete loss. Our hearts break for this faith community as their members discern the future and pick up the pieces. Bishop Gruss offered a prayer on our Diocesan Facebook page, which was posted after the fire.

In addition to a prayer from Bishop Robert Gruss, our Parish at nearby St. Elizabeth of Hungary was quick to respond. Parochial Administrator Fr. Josepaul Pasala was on the scene early that morning, compassionately offering whatever assistance the parish could provide. He said:

"The fire at Faith Community Church has deeply affected many in the area, and it was important for me to be present early on Saturday morning as a sign of solidarity, prayer, and pastoral care. In times of crisis, our presence as Church must be immediate and compassionate -- standing with those who are hurting, listening to their concerns, and offering hope rooted in our faith."

St. Elizabeth is working with Reese Faith Community Church on possibly using the St. Elizabeth Parish Center for worship services. They used it last week, and are scheduled to be there again on Sunday, March 29. As Bishop Gruss said:

"May God's mercy and strength bring comfort at this time. And may He grant you the courage to grieve what has been lost and the grace to trust in what He will rebuild."

Let us continue to pray for Reese Faith Community Church.
