The Diocese of Saginaw is excited to share that Cinthya Monter has become part of the team in the Office of Parish Life & Evangelization, specifically within the Multicultural Office of Migrant Ministry. She is a seasonal part-time employee who will act as Food Pantry Coordinator. Her first day was April 13, 2026.
In her role as Food Pantry Coordinator for Migrant Ministry at the Diocese of Saginaw, Cinthya will manage the food pantry that caters to migrant families in the Tri-City region. Her primary responsibilities include evaluating and approving donation flyers, organizing and maintaining storage facilities, coordinating and accepting donations, preparing and distributing food boxes, addressing sacramental and emergency needs, purchasing necessary items, visiting migrant camps when required, ensuring compliance with health and safety guidelines, and providing an end-of-season report. This position also involves fostering collaborative relationships with diocesan staff, parish leaders, and volunteers while maintaining high standards for organization, communication, and ethical practices.
Cinthya Monter, a Saginaw resident originally from Port Chester, New York, has over a decade of experience working with migrant farmworkers. She had previously worked as a medical assistant with Great Lakes Bay Health Centers. Her dedication to helping others is especially evident in her commitment to assisting the migrant community, which she finds particularly fulfilling. Cinthya also appears in the documentary Did You Guys Eat? / ¿Ya Comieron? , which showcases the journey of Michigan agriculture, including the stories of farmers, farmworkers, and their support networks. Recently, she and her husband celebrated the arrival of a baby girl and are cherishing every moment of her growth. They are active members of St. Francis of Assisi parish.
DIOCESE OF SAGINAW SAGINAW’S MIGRANT PANTRY IS OPENING MAY 4th
The Diocesan Migrant Pantry located within the Center of Ministry in Saginaw is preparing to support our farmworker community! We are currently accepting donations and will keep doing so throughout the summer. Hou p.m.rs of operation are Monday through Thursday 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
